Irina Palm (Irina Palm)
Îïèñàíèå:
Rock icon Marianne Faithfull has swapped her leather trousers for an apron, and daringly takes on the role of a meek and pragmatic middle-class housewife in this moving and witty film. Maggie`s life in a grey London suburb has come to a bit of a standstill, until one day she is forced to find money, a lot of money –quickly. Her grandson has a heart disease that can only be treated in Australia, and his parents have long run out of all possibilities of borrowing money. That`s why Maggie, who has never had a job in her life, has to look for work. By chance, she ends up in a sleazy Soho sex club, owned by Miki (Manojlovic), a middle-aged, hard-boiled gangster from the Balkans. He offers her a job because she has soft hands. Maggie`s desperation drives her to overcome her shame, and she is soon known for giving the best hand job in town – under the exotic name of Irina Palm. But Miki`s hard front conceals a soft heart, which means that Maggie now has both a well-paid job and faces a budding romance. But it is not easy to combine the old petit-bourgeois life style with being Irina Palm. Even if it looks as if she`ll be able to save her grandchild, will she ever be able to tell him, how she did it? Irina Palm is an ode to the unpredictability of life and is made with dignity, originality and a big twinkle in the eye.
