The Roses of the Desert (Le Rose del deserto)
Îïèñàíèå:
Lybian desert, 1940. Italian soldiers and officers from a medical unit are sure that they will not stay in that place for long; seems to be winning. As days go by, it is more and more obvious that their triumphal march towards is turning into a chaotic escape...
With an excellent script, the legendary director Mario Monicelli offers us the most mature Italian comedy of the past, which can put a story marked by irony and sarcasm together with some dramatic, even tragic, touches. Monicelli chooses a picaresque and cheerful tone for the first part; then he turns to an honorable anguish until the end, when only cynicism seems to soften their discouragement.
